We use the Lucy Calkins writing program here at RES.  Throughout the year, third and fourth graders learn to pre-write, 'flash draft' (writing fast and furious!), expand 'seed ideas', revise using checklists, and strengthen their stamina (writing long and strong).  We create narratives, literacy essays,  and persuasive essays, all while working on spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
